Old Dakaria stool from Burkina Faso 

Beautiful old Dagara stool with 4 legs. The Dagara or Dagaare or Dagari/Dakari are a West African ethnic group native to Ghana, Sudan and Burkina Faso. This old stool comes from Burkina Faso and was handcrafted from a single piece of wood. Traditionally, Dakari stools with 4 legs are the stools of women. They are generally a bit smaller than the men's stools, which usually have three legs. Women usually use the stools in front of the cooking fire to prepare meals. This old stool has a beautiful patina and signs of wear consistent with its age. The sturdy four legs and the single handle give the stool the shape of a lizard or turtle. One of a kind!
