Beautifully decorated wooden pole  or bed foot

Bed foot of a Songay-Peulh bed. This decorative large wooden peg with its beautiful decorations was carved by hand. Such pegs or bed feet are dug into the ground by the nomadic peoples of Africa (Niger and Burkina Faso). They serve as a support for the bed construction. In this way, the sleeping person lies slightly raised and not directly on the ground. The bed legs are roughly carved and very expressive. The wooden posts are old and used and show signs of wear. We supply the old bed base with a metal stand. A unique piece!
