Artful Ashanti comb with brass ornaments
Handmade antique Ashanti wooden comb on a metal stand. This traditional African one-piece carved wooden comb comes from the Ashanti people of Ghana. It is beautifully carved and decorated with hand stamped brass strips. The front and back are almost identical. The combs are given as gifts by Ashanti men to their wives or lovers. The patterns always have symbolism. Very large combs are not used as hair ornaments, but as badges of honor. Unique piece!
