Decorative hand-woven indigo fabric from Mali

Original, hand-woven and decorative - these wonderful indigo fabrics come from Mali in West Africa. The 10-15 cm wide lengths of cotton fabric are woven and dyed by hand there. The blue indigo colour is extracted from the leaves of the indigo plant. The decorative and typical patterns are created using the stitch resist dye technique. Finally, 9-11 lengths of fabric are sewn together to form one large piece of fabric. A unique piece!
