Old Tuareg wooden bowl from Niger
The Tuareg wooden bowls are usually carved by hand by Tuareg women. The beautiful decorations and rounded base of these bowls are very typical. The lightweight wooden bowls make it easy to transport food and meals. Some of the Tuareg wooden bowls have hanging rings or handles that were used to carry them from place to place.
The wooden bowls are carved from local wood. As wood is a rather valuable commodity in the desert, the bowls are treated very carefully and repaired many times over the course of time - sometimes over generations. This results in wooden bowls with a very beautiful patina. A unique piece!
The bowl is old and used and has corresponding signs of age and usage. We supply the wooden bowl with a metal ring.
