Decorative antique wooden container from the Borana people of Ethiopia 

This beautiful old wooden container with handle was handmade many decades ago by the Borana people. The Borana  people are a subgroup of the Oromo people, who live mainly in southern Ethiopia. They mostly live from agriculture and livestock farming, some also as nomads. These rough, sculpted and archaic-looking wooden containers were used to store food. The wooden tub is very roughly hewn and is particularly beautiful. Various signs of wear characterise the beautiful patina of the wooden tub. With its simple form, this wooden tub will look particularly good in a modern and minimalist living environment. One of a kind!
